AMMAN - Jordan Customs Department (JCD) personnel working in the Anti-Smuggling Directorate on Tuesday thwarted the smuggling of 5,000 satellite receivers, 125 car recorders, 403 headphones and 7,982 articles of clothing.

The JCD stated that the smuggled goods were seized from a suspected container on the Desert Highway, adding that the contraband and the vehicle will be held until the incurred fees and customs fines are met, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The JCD confirmed that it is moving forward in achieving its goal to combat illegal activities, including smuggling of all kinds, noting that smuggling constitutes a direct threat to the national economy. It also called on citizens to report any information about smuggled goods.
