Expatriates currently employed in the UAE and in the process of switching their jobs, take note.

When offered a job by another employer, prospective candidates are now required to submit a good conduct certificate.

When Khaleej Times checked with The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperationcall centre, they confirmed that the requirement has been instated for all expatriate workers moving jobs in the UAE.

This announcement reverses the earlier notice issued last month on February 23.

Previously, the notice which had beenissued toall Amer and Tasheel centres, informed residents that the good conduct certificate would not be needed for the visa if they are in the country. However, now even those inside the country will need a police clearance certificate if they are looking to switch jobs.

Those seeking employment in the UAE from outside the country still have to produce the good conduct certificate for their visas to be processed.

The Police Clearance Certificate rule for job seekers came into effect fromFebruary 4this year.

Expats applying for new work visas in the UAE are subjected to security background checks and required to submit a police clearance from their home countries, or the country of their residence for the past five years.
