Eligible citizens will receive their government cash subsidies directly tomorrow, the Labour and Social Development Minister said.

“The amounts to be disbursed will be transferred to the accounts of eligible citizens, in accordance with the regular standards and regulations without any change and will cover social security, financial support (high cost of living allowance), disability allowance and housing allowance (rent allowance),” Jameel Humaidan said.

Last month, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, directed that mechanisms be established to facilitate the provision of direct government subsidies to citizens.

The provision should be in accordance with approved regulations while maintaining the criteria currently in place, to ease the process for citizens benefiting from the cash subsidy programme.

The Cabinet decided to unify the date of subsidy disbursements to citizens across five programmes under the Labour and Social Development and Housing ministries.

The subsidies will be disbursed in one payment on the 15th of every month, starting from February 15, 2020. The operation will be monitored by the Labour and Social Development Ministry.

The date for the month of February was brought forward to 13 as 15 will be the second day of the weekend, Humaidan explained.

The meat subsidies will be disbursed starting April 15, along with the remaining amounts of other support programmes due to citizens, at a rate of one payment every three months. The previous payment was made in the first week of January 2020 for the months of January, February and March 2020, the minister said.
