ArabFinance: The Egyptian government will establish a department designated for the tax treatment of e-commerce companies, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait told CNBC Arabia on September 23rd.

The set-up procedures are expected to commence in 2021, Maait elaborated, without disclosing any further details.

Earlier this year, Maait confirmed that no new value-added tax (VAT) would be imposed on products being sold through digital or traditional sales platforms.

The Egyptian Tax Authority, meanwhile, said broadcast advertisements will be subject to stamp tax and VAT on production inputs.
