Transit passengers of all nationalities can now use Bahrain International Airport, the Civil Aviation Affairs has announced.

However, it added that the entry of travellers to Bahrain would remain restricted to Bahraini citizens, residents of the kingdom, and travellers holding a letter of prior permission to enter.

“The Civil Aviation Affairs has issued a circular stating that transit passengers from all nationalities have been permitted to use Bahrain International Airport as of April 3,” said a statement.

“The circular also stated that the entry of travellers to Bahrain would remain restricted to Bahraini citizens, residents of the kingdom, and travellers holding a letter of prior permission to enter.”

The GDN reported yesterday that 320 trucks driven by expatriates had been given the green light to cross King Fahad Causeway and head to their respective countries.

Welcoming the move, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry said it would clear the build-up of lorries resulting from precautionary measures imposed by Saudi authorities in view of the coronavirus crisis.
