UAE: The UAE trade surplus with Japan has grown by 14.4% year-on-year during the first six months of 2019, data by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) showed.

The GCC nation’s trade surplus with Japan valued at AED 32.96 billion ($8.98 billion) in the first half of 2019, versus AED 28.81 billion ($7.85 billion) in the corresponding period of 2019.

The value of Emirati exports to Japan increased by 2.3% in H1-19 to AED 44.92 billion ($12.24 billion), compared to AED 43.93 billion ($11.97 billion) in the year-ago period.

Meanwhile, the UAE’s imports from Japan valued at AED 11.96 billion ($3.26 billion) in H1-19, down 21% year-on-year from AED 15.12 billion ($4.12 billion).

Trade exchange between the two countries declined by 3.7% to AED 56.89 billion ($15.5 billion) during the six-month period ended 30 June 2019 from AED 59.1 billion ($16.1 billion) in H1-18, according to data.
