Cairo –  Egypt’s food exports increased by 2.2% year-on-year (YoY) to $1.8 billion during the first half (H1) of 2020, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Tuesday.

Exports of food industries represent 14% of the country’s total non-oil exports during the January-June period, ranking the third among other exports, the head of the Food Export Council, Hany Berzy, said.

Arab countries topped Egypt’s food export destinations with a share of 55% or $983 million, followed by the European Union (EU), non-Arab African countries, and the US with $257 million, $198 million, and $88 million, respectively.
