Riyadh – Average monthly salaries paid to Saudi citizens, aged 15 or older, went down by 3.9% on an annual basis over the second quarter (Q2) of the year.

The salaries reached SAR 9,970 by the end of Q2-20, compared to SAR 10,342 in the prior-year quarter, according to data collected by Mubasher based on official figures.

On a quarterly basis, the salaries retreated by 3.23% when compared to their level in Q1-20 at SAR 10,303.

In the meantime, salaries paid to expatriates in the Gulf country rose by 2.17% yearly during the April-June period to stand at SAR 4,136.

Quarterly, expats’ salaries increased by 2.6%, according to the data.

Moreover, salaries of Saudi nationals working in government bodies edged up by 0.04% year-on-year (YoY) over Q2-20 to reach SAR 11,455.

Likewise, average salaries of expats working in the governmental sector posted a 9.8% YoY growth, registering SAR 11,360.

Salaries paid by the private sector to Saudis dipped by 0.74% annually in Q2-20 to total SAR 7,214, whereas those paid to expats recorded SAR 4,579 by the end of June 2020, up by 7.8% YoY.
