Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Blackwire LLC is announcing an expansion of its in vehicle Wi-Fi services outside of the UAE by collaborating with SAPO Japan. SAPO will become Blackwire’s master distributor and will support company’s international expansion plans. Car Wi-Fi, media Wi-Fi, DVR/CCTV and telematics (vehicle GPS tracking) solutions will be first introduced to Japanese markets. Blackwire is planning to start implementation across 3 major cities such as Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuma and expects full-fledged operations to be established by 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Japan.

Blackwire is planning to work with other parties to facilitate the implementation of their services and is eyeing collaboration with major telecom service providers in the country. With 920,000 visitors per day that are expected to come to Tokyo daily during Olympic Games season mobility and internet connection services will be top priority for developed country like Japan.

According to Blackwire market evaluations Japan doesn’t have a viable in vehicle Wi-Fi service provider that can offer a full suite of solutions. According to Theodore, despite its current technological sophistication, Japanese market lacks strong in vehicle connectivity vendors represented by telecommunications service providers. Company is working towards entering long term collaborations with such telecom giants as NTT, Softbank and AU.
