Dubai: On Thursday 13th December 2018, Bank of Sharjah celebrated at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel – Dubai its 45th anniversary and key milestones achieved in the last half decade. As a legacy Bank dedicated to being completely customer-centric in its approach, Bank of Sharjah is proud of its achievements.

In a speech at the event, Mr. Varouj Nerguizian, General Manager, extended his deep gratitude to  H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan President of the United Arab Emirates, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Ruler of Dubai, and  H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and expressed his profound appreciation and respect to H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi  Ruler of Sharjah, our Honorary Chairman, whose determination and wise counsel remains an enduring influence on the prosperity of the Bank.

He unveiled the Bank’s plans for growth through complete commitment to digitized services targeting the UAE’s industrial sector, of which  46% is based within the Emirate of Sharjah, along with the service and trade sectors in Dubai and oil in Abu Dhabi.

Mr. Nerguizian announced the new website that will be launched soon for a superior experience in its user-friendly design. This reinforces the Bank’s commitment towards customer-focused banking. The new website adheres to the latest industry trends and meets the increasingly demanding consumer needs, allowing easy access to information on the portfolio of products and services, such as opening accounts by way of an e-form, amongst others.

He added “the challenge of being a legacy-based Bank in a rapidly transforming landscape of digitalization was overcome by converting to AI-reliant operations. Our technology-based strategy has enabled us to extract a wealth of unlocked values, and we are now in the process of optimizing our values while preserving our heritage. He added that, the shift is clear, I call it digital banking at its best.”

The 45th Anniversary celebration was attended by the eminent members of the Board of Directors, led by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saud Al Qasimi Vice Chairman of the Board, H.E. Sultan Bin Nasser Al Suwaidi Former Governor of the Central Bank, major shareholders and notable members of the UAE and the GCC’s financial community.
