Wego, the largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena), has entered into a partnership with Jordan Tourism Board to expand its reach and attract more visitors to Jordan from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Around three and a half million searches to Jordan have been conducted on Wego’s platform by Mena users in the first half of 2019. Around 32 per cent of travellers booked their holidays within seven days or less, 23 per cent booked almost two months in advance, 17 per cent booked between a month and above and the remaining 28 per cent booked between 8 to 29 days.

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are major feeder markets for Jordan tourism. Petra has recently been visited by countless numbers of tourists from the GCC and the rest of the world, marking 2019 to be the best year in terms of the number of tourists to the ancient city.

Dr Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, the managing director of Jordan Tourism Board, said: “Wego will promote the key attractions in Jordan including Petra, Dead Sea, Aqaba, Wadi Rum, Ajlun and Salt among other hidden gems to its users. It will also shed light on the experiences and activities during the summer period.”

Whether you are looking for unique and historical experiences, a family vacation, a couples’ retreat or a summer escape, Jordan ensures you will get the best stay and enhance your travel experience like no other.

Mamoun Hmedan, managing director, Mena and India, Wego, said: “Jordan is a very popular destination for GCC travellers. According to our research, Jordan ranked number eight in the trending global destinations in Q2 2019. The country offers a unique mix of modernity and tradition and is home to countless wonders which lure holidaymakers.
