Dubai – Mubasher: Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co (du) has announced the achievement of the world’s highest peak throughput over a 5G standalone network, exceeding 2 Gbps download speed.

A peak throughput of 1.8 Gbps was achieved at download and 213 Mbps at upload along with low latency, according to a company statement released on Saturday.

“We are committed to supporting the next evolution of 5G with standalone deployment and seamless software evolution to our core and access networks,” du’s CEO Saleem Alblooshi said.

Such successful demonstration marks the transition to the next phase of the Dubai-listed telecom company’s commercial 5G network.

“This is a milestone for telecommunications in the UAE and sets the bar high for future 5G network possibilities in line with the nation’s smart city visions and National Agenda,” Alblooshi commented.

It is worth noting that du reported a net profit of AED 381.2 million ($103.8 million) in Q3-19.
