DUBAI - The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Tabuk Pharmaceuticals for the supply and distribution of medical and pharmaceutical stocks during emergency situations. The MoU falls in line with the efforts to strengthen the UAE’s health security, according to the Cabinet Decision No. 39 of 2015.

The list of medicines covered under the agreement includes several products for the treatment of infections and diseases that affect the digestive system, respiratory diseases and bone diseases.

The signing was attended by Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Under-Secretary of the Ministry; Dr. Abdul Karim Abdullah Al Zarouni, Director of Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Operations Centre at the Ministry; and Dr. Gandhi Yaqoub, First Vice President representative of Tabuk Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Al Zarouni said that the signing of the MoU forms part of the strategy to enhance the country’s health and medical security; and to promote proactive planning and rapid response systems, through ensuring the supply of medical stock. The stock will contain ready-to-use medicines for six months. A cooperative committee has also been formed to follow up on coordination between both parties.

Under the MoU, the stock of emergency medical supplies will be kept ready at the company’s warehouses in accordance with the optimal storage conditions stipulated by the rules and standards, to ensure their safety and ease of use. In addition, an electronic link will be maintained with the Crisis and Disaster Operations Centre at the Ministry. The company will also oversee the transfer and supply of required items to the strategic medical stock warehouse of the Ministry or any other designated entity, in the event of an emergency.

Dr. Yaqoub said, "We are pleased to partner with the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention to ensure the ready availability of medical supplies in emergency situations. Facilitating access to medicines, even in challenging circumstances, remains an integral part of our mission. We are committed to working hand in hand with the government and various health authorities to help achieve the UAE’s healthcare vision."
