The number of telecommunications subscribers in UAE mobile, fixed-line and data services amounted to 22.8 million by the end of August, a media report said.

The number of mobile phone subscribers reached around 19.154 million, which equals to 217 lines per 100 inhabitants, reported Emirates news agency Wam, citing statistics released recently by the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority.

Prepaid- service subscribers numbered 15.734 million by the end of August 2018 while mobile subscribers reached 3.419 million by the end of the same month.

Mobile phone services account for 80 percent of the revenues of the country's main operators, Etisalat Group and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company.

Up to 1.360 million people are subscribing in internet services by the end of August, 99.9 percent of whom are opting for broadband services.

Fixed-line subscribers hit 2.326 million by the end of August.
