Special checkout counters for healthcare workers have been set up at different LuLu Hypermarket outlets across the country.

The hypermarket has opened two checkout counters dedicated to provide priority service to all the busy healthcare professionals working hard to contain the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19).

“Our doctors, nurses, technicians, pharmacists and all the hospital workers in the public and private healthcare system are our frontline soldiers,” said a company official.

“They are protecting us, our health and lives in the fight against Covid-19.”

The hypermarket chain has also launched an initiative urging shoppers to adopt social distancing while shopping.

Special stickers on the floor indicate how people can maintain a safe distance from each other.

The new initiative #UnitedAgainstCovid has been introduced for safer shopping.

The Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry has forwarded to the supermarkets and hypermarkets the Health Ministry’s Covid-19 guidelines.

One of these guidelines calls for social distancing measures and encourage customers to resort to online shopping.

In addition, the ministry said body temperature of shoppers should be checked and sanitisers provided to them.

“All shopping carts should be cleaned and sterilised before and after their use by customers,” added the ministry.
