Riyadh –  The value of transactions through points of sales (POS) in Saudi Arabia advanced by 31.1% annually in August 2020, reaching SAR 31.15 billion from SAR 23.76 billion in the same month a year ago.

Yearly, the number of transactions through POS jumped by 94.53% to stand at 268.5 million in August, compared with 138 million in the prior-year month, official data showed on Tuesday.

In the meantime, the number of POS devices totalled 579,940 last month, posting a yearly increase of 44.3%.

Month-on-month (MoM), the value of POS sales shrank by 15.86%.

Food and beverage dominated the highest value in POS transactions with SAR 5.15 billion, followed by restaurants and cafes with SAR 4.04 billion.
