Riyadh – The South Korean government seeks to push ahead with the establishment of a research centre for nuclear power in Saudi Arabia, the South Korean Ministry of Science and Technology said.
The joint venture aims to enhance collaboration between the two countries in research and development for advanced nuclear reactor technologies, the South's Yonhap news agency reported, citing the ministry.
The ministry said it had discussed the establishment of the centre with the Saudi officials on the sidelines of the third edition of Korea–Saudi Arabia Joint Nuclear Committee.
The oil-rich kingdom and South Korea also approved to step up technical cooperation to set up a small nuclear reactor (SMART), Mun Mi-Ock from South Korea's science and technology and information technology ministry said.
