Muscat: The Environment Authority in cooperation with Sohar Port Company and OQ Company has dealt with an oil spill accident that affected marine areas in Oman.

"The Environment Authority, Sohar Port Company and OQ Company dealt with an oil spill accident from the refinery, which resulted in contamination of some marine areas near the port. Immediate response measures were taken to contain the pollution and work is underway to clean the sites," the Environment Authority said in a statement.

"The authority draws the attention of all citizens and residents to report any traces of pollution in port areas across Oman, on the following numbers: 24693666 / 80071999 " the statement added.
