AMMAN - Internet penetration in Jordan increased by 0.8 per cent over the year 2020, standing at 66.8 per cent in January 2021 with a total of 6.84 million Internet users in the country, according to a report issued by DataReportal, a global platform that specialises in providing data on online usage and trends.

The figures indicated that the number of social media users in Jordan increased by 11 per cent between January 2020 and January 2021. That is an increase by 600,000 making a total of 6.3 million social media users, which is 61.5 per cent of the population.

Furthermore, the reports highlighted that there were 8.01 million mobile connections in Jordan in January 2021, a 0.04 per cent increase from the figures recorded in January 2021.

The report noted that there were 3.20 million social media users in Yemen in January 2021 and it increased by 700,000 between 2020 and 2021. Also, the number of social media users in Yemen was equivalent to 10.6 per cent of the total population in January 2021.

According to the report, there were 4.25 million social media users in Kuwait in January 2021 and it increased by 99,000 between 2020 and 2021. The number of social media users in Kuwait was equivalent to 98.8 per cent of the total population in January 2021.
