Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian Information and communications technology (ICT) sector has achieved a growth rate ranged from 15% to 18% during the first three quarters in the fiscal year 2018/2019.

The contribution of the ICT sector in Egypt’s GDP is expected to reach 4% at the end of the fiscal year, minister of communications and information technology (MCIT), Amr Talaat, said.

The ministry is working on increasing this contribution to 8% in the next three years, the minister added.

MCIT’s strategy is targeting transferring Egypt to a regional hub for ICT, Talaat revealed.

Talaat announced that digital services exports recorded $3.67 billion in the current fiscal year and was expected to grow 12% in the coming year and 14% in the year after.
