Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has signed an agreement with El Sewedy Electric for Trade and Distribution, a subsidiary of Elsewedy Electric (SWDY), to set up the transformers substation in Sheikh Zayed for the monorail project, Hapi Journal reported, citing a statement issued by the company.

Under the agreement, the gas-insulated substation (GIS) will be built at a cost of EGP 178 million, with a capacity of 66/22 kilovolt.

The project is set to be implemented in up to 12 months, according to the statement.

The substation aims at feeding-in the 6th of October’s monorail with the necessary electric power.

This agreement comes within the framework of the Egyptian government’s efforts to complete the monorail project.
