Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is looking to build a multi-purpose terminal for containers and non-containerised cargo at Safaga Maritime Port at an estimated cost of $500 million, the country’s transport minister Kamel El-Wazir said.

Located six kilometres south Safaga Maritime Port, the new terminal will be constructed over an area of 750,000 square metres, El-Waizr added in a statement on Wednesday.

A wharf with a length of 1,000 metres will be established for handling containers and non-containerised cargo, the minister revealed during his participation in the Sustainable Infrastructure Forum, an associated event of the UK-Africa Investment Summit held in London.
