Egypt finalises building digital capability programmes for public workers moving to NAC

Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has implemented an integrated set of knowledge, skills, and training programmes, to build the digital capabilities of public workers moving to the New Administrative Capital (NAC).

The Ministry revealed that these programmes come in line with the institutional development plan for the state’s administrative apparatus. It aims to create a new business model within government institutions that contributes to building a digital Egypt.

The plan also aims to keep pace with the developments of transferring ministries, government agencies and public bodies to the NAC, and which imposes new requirements and skills for workers.

This comes in implementation of Egyptian Government’s directives to raise the level of employee efficiency and performance, in accordance with the latest methods and skills. It also comes as part of the state’s strategy to build the digital capabilities of government employees.

In a press release on Saturday, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said that the programme’s most prominent objectives are to develop and build the digital capabilities of workers moving into the NAC.

This includes the commensurate efforts to: enhance government performance; support governance mechanisms; aid transparency and fight corruption; influence the citizen’s journey at government institutions; and establish considerations of characteristics and capabilities.

With regard to developing digital capacity and building programmes it has implemented for employees at the NAC, the Ministry said that its efforts include four basic pathways. The first of these is developing digital culture according to job levels.

It also includes: developing digital skills guided by the results of evaluating employees; the applications used in the NAC, which depend on the technical programmes for applications, operating systems, and work inside the national project; and finally, developing employee skills in information systems units and digital transformation.

The Ministry announced the completion of training for the majority of government employees moving to the NAC.

So far, a total of 18,419 government employees have been trained on knowledge, culture, and the digital skills needed to keep pace with the work environment at the NAC.

The Ministry revealed that about 6,396 trainees from the ministries and government agencies moving to the development have been provided with training in computer skills. They have also undergone employee evaluation, with the training they have received based on the results of the evaluations.

About 5,426 employees have received training as part of the digital transformation programme for executive and supervisory leadership, with 2,684 trainees taking part in the fundamentals of digital transformation programme.

A further 876 trainees took part in the digital project management programme, along with: 968 trainees in the advanced programme for digital transformation; and 1,365 trainees in the digital transformation programme to combat corruption. This is in addition to the 704 workers who have undertaken training for the digital transformation units created in the ministries and agencies moving to the NAC.
