UAE - Mubasher: The Government Procurement Programme (GPP) has supported the members of Dubai SME, the agency established by Dubai Economy to develop the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, with AED 7.5 billion contracts since the GPP's launch in 2002.

In 2020, Dubai SME has backed its members with AED 896 million procurement contracts from 61 local and federal government entities and other establishments, according to Dubai Media Office.

Facilitated as part of the GPP, these procurement contracts aim to improve the competitiveness and sustainable growth of SMEs and startups in Dubai.

A total of 47% of these contracts were from Dubai Government entities, while 22% came from semi-governmental entities, 21% from the private sector, and 10% from federal government entities.

The CEO of Dubai SME, Abdul Baset Al Janahi, said: "SMEs constitute 99% of the businesses in the Dubai and GPP has contributed to enhancing confidence in their capabilities and potential."
