DUBAI - Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched the "Future Signals Catalogue" for its employees to learn about future signals and trends, analyse and evaluate the possibility of turning them into initiatives that shape the future.

The move is part of DEWA’s efforts to instil a culture of innovation among its employees and community members.

Signals are typically small or local innovations or disruptive technologies that have the potential to grow. A signal can be a new product, a new practice, a new market strategy, a new policy, or new technology that will shape the future.

The in-house platform has received around 300 future signals from more than 200 employees in various divisions. The signals from about 230 different sources focus on key areas such as Decarbonisation, Future of Energy and Renewables, Digital Technologies, Digital Services, Future of Water, Digital Economy, Cybersecurity, Future of Work and others.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said, We work to achieve the National Innovation Strategy launched to make the UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world. We are committed to providing DEWA employees with the required tools to become effective partners in anticipating and shaping the future. We also invest in our human resources as we believe they are the key ingredients for success and excellence. This is in addition to keeping pace with rapid changes to maintain our excellence." DEWA organised virtual awareness sessions to introduce its employees to the new platform to benefit from small or local innovations with the potential for growth and development. DEWA also launched the Future Signals Catalogue competition to engage employees on the platform.
