Oil & gas recruitment event hosts a thousand job seekers
Dubai, UAE: Close to 1,000 job seekers were present at the first ever Energy Recruitment Live Event, which took place on Monday in Dubai. Industry giants including Saudi Aramco, Topaz, GASCO and PDO were participating, making their teams available to speak with potential candidates.
With a continually aging workforce throughout the global energy industry, companies have regularly faced difficulty in finding young, enthusiastic recruits with a passion and drive to climb the careers ladder.
OilCareers.com, the international job site specifically focussed on the oil and gas industry, was on hand at Monday's event to provide advice for candidates as well as employers. Predictions made in a report published by OilCareers.com at the beginning of this year, saw an anticipated 60 per cent increase in recruitment in 2011, and similar numbers expected in other core regions including Europe and Americas.
Mark Guest, managing director of OilCareers.com, commented: "The recruitment sector is set to incline steeply in 2011 and 2012, but the issues lie areas of development and retention, with companies finding it harder to recruit from the younger generation and encourage them to develop their careers within the company.
"This type of event was an excellent opportunity to open dialogue between recruiters and recruits and make the process much more flexible and personable."
Candidates at the event were also provided guidance on their CVs and interview techniques from HR experts, as well as sitting down with potential employers to understand more about what opportunities there are and what positions their skills are most suited to.
Simon Mellor, senior vice president for dmg :: events, organiser of Energy Recruitment Live, commented: "This was an incredibly successful launch for the event. It provided a unique and bespoke platform for the industry and we hope that the success of this initial event will result in further editions of Energy Recruitment Live in the near future."
