The demand for IB programmes in Dubai at an unprecedented level

Demand for the IB curriculum has grown at an unprecedented level within the region and Taaleem's latest new launch, Uptown School in Mirdif, will provide up to 2,000 places for this academically challenging but innovative and creative curriculum.

While the dumbing down of exams in other parts of the world is hotly debated along with the inconsistencies in grading, the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum has now been hailed by many as the gold standard of pre-university education. Success in the IB Diploma Programme will fast-track students to the world's top-rated universities.

Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the KHDA Board of Directors and Director General, and H. E. Abdulrahman Al Saleh, Chairman of Taaleem, as well as other members of Taaleem's Board of Directors, attended a ribbon cutting ceremony on the new campus, marking the opening of phase one of Uptown School.

Dr. Abdulla Al Karam remarked: "We welcome new schools which give a greater number of students access to world class education.  The IB curriculum, the fastest growing in Dubai, enriches its students and serves its community. Taaleem schools are known for providing high quality IB instruction, and produce engaged, discerning graduates ready to contribute to the future of Dubai."

When completed, Uptown School will offer the full IB continuum: Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).

"Recent studies have shown that academic performances by IB students are broadly superior to those studying other curricula," pointed out Tim Waley, Principal of Uptown School, "Uptown School will offer students the most universally recognized educational passport to their future."

Nishant Damji, Deputy Principal and Head of Early Years, commented: "Early childhood education is critical to cognitive development. Over 40 years of research has proven that high quality early education for young children has a tremendous impact on their future ability to learn and succeed. "

Ziad Azzam, CEO of Taaleem and himself an IB graduate, added that "the consistent and strong support of KHDA and our Board has enabled us to offer yet another world-class educational facility to the residents of Dubai."
