Doha, Qatar - May 14, 2012: United Development Company, master developer of The Pearl-Qatar, actively participated May 7 and 8 in The second Annual MEP Summit and Awards, receiving Qatar's Most Innovative Project of the Year Award. The summit recognized the outstanding achievements, contributions and innovations in the construction industry.
Held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Doha, The two-day summit discussed numerous topics presented by local and international speakers in the mechanical, electrical and the pluming construction industry. The conference provided an opportunity for attendees to listen to a variety of forums on sustainable regulations, energy conservation and MEP design models, and also provided a networking opportunity with leading experts in the field.
UDC participated with two delegates on the first day of the summit, with an additional five delegates attending the Gala Dinner and Awards.
The Gala Dinner, which was held on May 7, 2012, celebrated the notable successes that have taken place in the MEP sector and that have made Doha an international example of outstanding construction.
Alfred Bangura, General Manager United Facilities Management Company (UFMCO) received "Qatar's Most Innovative Project of the Year" Award on behalf of UDC. The award recognized UDC's The Pearl-Qatar for its implementation of the latest in technology and the highest standards in safety and maintenance, telecommunications, infrastructure and environmental sustainability.
"It's been an honor to work on such a ground-breaking project such as The Pearl-Qatar," Mr. Bangura explained. "Our dedication to innovation and sustainability will continue to evolve, and that's a very exciting prospect."
Executive contributions were given by Bill Jolly, Head of MEP, KEO Consultants, Dr. Alex Amato, Chairman for Research and Innovation, Qatar Green Building Council, Diaa El Masry, LEED Design Manager, Qatar Green Leaders, and Hani Hawamdeh, President Elect, ASHRAE ORYC Chapter.
