Dedicated Middle Eastern Day Highlighted Strong Regional Opportunities for Machinery and Materials
Abu Dhabi - UAE: 24 April 2012 - The ninth edition of INTERMAT Paris, the international exhibition of equipment, machinery and techniques for the construction and building materials industry, concluded on Saturday drawing satisfaction from both exhibitors and visitors. Several leading manufacturers, contractors, economists and other industry experts contributed their views of the global construction market and showcased their new activities, machinery and equipment at the event.
His Excellency Mohamed Meer Abdalla Al Raeesi, the Ambassador of the UAE in France, members from the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (DED), the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), and key buyers from the Gulf Cooperation Council attended INTERMAT Paris. They along with several leading French and European entrepreneurs were taken on a guided tour of the exhibition, where they also discussed the numerous lucrative investment opportunities in Abu Dhabi's construction and manufacturing sectors.
Maryvonne Lanoë, INTERMAT Exhibition Director, said: "The level of opportunity in the Middle East with regards to construction, infrastructure and manufacturing are greatly acknowledged and appreciated by French and European investors. In addition to members of Abu Dhabi's DED, Middle East Day at INTERMAT Paris attracted purchasing advisors, decision makers, dealers, manufacturers and opinion leaders from both the Middle East and Europe. Several key business relationships were made, making INTERMAT Paris the ideal European platform to propel ventures in the construction and manufacturing sectors of this rich region."
Mr. Yousuf J. Barzak, Contractors Classification Specialist, Department of Economic Development, said: "The Middle East Day at INTERMAT Paris provided the DED with a great opportunity to attract business into Abu Dhabi. We see abundant potential, as there as various large-scale construction projects yet to be developed across Abu Dhabi, which makes up 87 per cent of the UAE. Furthermore many investors have expressed significant interest in bidding for major projects in Abu Dhabi and the Middle East region.
"The DED can provide foreign investors with a guideline on the complete business set-up format, and also act as a one-stop-shop to each of these investors if they wish to formalize a presence in Abu Dhabi. The Contractors and Consultants Classification & Engineers Registration Office at the DED also offers E-services for Classification Office which incorporates an array of services for classified and registered contractors and consultants."
Several exhibitors stated that INTERMAT Paris and INTERMAT Middle East are perfect platforms to generate brand awareness for products and solutions. During INTERMAT Paris companies such as Doosan/Bobcat/Portable Power and Montabert were highly successful in closing several major deals.
The UAE is the primary economic market for French groups in the region. Over 200 French firms operate in the Middle East, covering all sectors and activities, increasing by about 10 per cent each year.
INTERMAT Paris, attracted more than 1,400 exhibitors in an exhibition area of over 375,000 sqm., with a 30,000 sqm. outdoor demonstration area with equipment in operation.
The Middle East region is filled with opportunity. Entrepreneurs and investors are interested in several major projects in the region that include the: US$27 billion Saadiyat Island in the UAE; US$11 billion Etihad Rail in the UAE; US$91 billion 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar; US$40 billion Sundair City Development in Saudi Arabia; and many more.
INTERMAT Middle East will be held for its second edition from 8 - 10 October 2012 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
