Roads and Transport Authority- Manal Khalid - The Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has launched the "Laptop Clinic" initiative for the third year in a row. The initiative, which targets all RTA's agencies and departments, aims at reducing crashes of employees' workstations and improving their efficient performance.

Abdullah Al Bastaki, Director of RTA's Information Technology, said, "The RTA is keen on launching a variety of programs that significantly contribute to raising employees' awareness. The Laptop Clinic initiative is launched in this context with the aim of raising the technical know-how of all employees by briefing them on the importance of periodic checkup and maintenance of laptops to prolong their lifespan and ensure their efficiency after scanning and removing viruses and other malwares."

"The Laptop Clinic initiative," he added, "was launched in the year 2010, with the aim of having all employees' PCs checked quarterly by specialized engineers and technicians to ensure a smooth and error-free operation and functioning, through following several procedures such as the scanning of Outlook Mailbox, performing System Restore, conducting preventive maintenance that protects computers, and scanning viruses that damage important files."

It's noteworthy that the Laptop Clinic initiative is advertised via internal circulars through RTA's intranet before the event, to give employees the time to register and book an appointment to check their PCs by logging in for online registration. Each PC user will then receive an email message confirming the booking along with the specified timing and place for PC checking, where engineers and technicians will check the PC, diagnose the problem and perform the required repairs & maintenance.
