Two March workshops introduce educators to iEARN
350 Qatar teachers already registered on ROTA Knowledge Network
Doha: Teachers from schools across Qatar have the opportunity to discover more about the International Education and Resource Network (iEARN) at two professional development workshops organized and hosted by Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) in March.
'Introduction to iEARN projects' on Saturday, 3 March introduces iEARN and iEARN projects, and enables experienced teachers to implement iEARN projects into their classroom and collaborate online with members of the iEARN Community.
On Thursday, 8 March the 'iEARN-Qatar and the ROTA Knowledge Network' workshop aims to provide teachers with all the necessary tools and support to successfully implement iEARN projects in their classrooms. Teachers will develop their knowledge of Project-Based Learning (PBL) and project planning. During the workshop they will also become members of the ROTA Knowledge Network community web portal, create an Online Project Portfolio and benefit from the support of an online community.
"We hope more educators will take this opportunity to attend our workshops and join the ROTA Knowledge Network online Community," says ROTA Director Mr. Essa Al Mannai.
"Teachers attending iEARN workshops benefit from the resources and tools available on the ROTA Knowledge Network and the iEARN web portal. They also have the opportunity to collaborate with an international community of educators".
ROTA is the official representative of the iEARN program in Qatar, and is providing opportunities for students and teachers to collaborate through the network with other iEARN communities around the world.
As part of ROTA's commitment to working in partnership with Qatar's K-12 schools, ROTA supports the iEARN-Qatar online community of educators and learners by providing professional development for teachers and establishing connections between schools in Qatar and other countries.
Since 2008 a total of 322 teachers have benefitted from ROTA Knowledge Network training and workshops, and 350 teachers have enrolled as members of the ROTA Knowledge Network web portal. In 2013, Qatar will become the first country in the region to host the global iEARN Conference.
More information about the two iEARN workshops and details of how to register can be found on the www.rotaknowledgenet.org/iearn-qatar/home web page or by emailing iearn@rotaknowledgenet.org. ROTA is urging teachers to register ASAP since places are limited.
