RAK, Luxembourg sign agreement to intensify bilateral cooperation
Ras Al Khaimah, November 22, 2011: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, today received HRH Crown Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg and an accompanying high- level delegation who called on him at the Al Dhait Palace in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah.
During the meeting both sides expressed their resolve to strengthen economic ties between Ras Al Khaimah and Luxembourg through closer cooperation in a wide range of sectors.
Welcoming the Crown Prince and the accompanying delegation, Sheikh Saud expressed hope that the visit would open up new avenues of cooperation between Ras Al Khaimah and Luxembourg and provide strong impetus to bilateral trade and investment.
Giving an overview of the broad reform initiatives implemented by the government across various sectors, Sheikh Saud said that the emirate has strived to become a destination for talent and capital from across the globe by creating a conducive environment to work and live.
Calling upon Luxembourgian entrepreneurs to take advantage of the favourable investment climate present in the Emirate, RAK Ruler said, "The economic diversification programme implemented by the government has created a fairly diversified economy in the emirate which has strived to espouse an economic vision of openness to become relevant in a rapidly evolving and interconnected global economy."
Crown Prince Guillaume appreciated the sustainable development and progress achieved by UAE in various sectors and called for reinforcement of business and trade relations between the two sides through increased partnerships and exchange of ideas.
The delegation visit also saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RAKCCI) and the Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg to encourage and facilitate economic cooperation and promotion of investment and commercial opportunities between companies and enterprises in the two regions. The agreement was signed by Yousef Obaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of RAKCCI and Robert Dennewald, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg.
The Luxembourg delegation included H.E. Jeannot Krecke, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, H.E. Georges Faber, Ambassador of Luxembourg to the UAE, and senior officials from representing businesses and government.
Sheikh Abdul Malik bin Kayed Al Qasimi, Advisor to the RAK Ruler, Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Civil Aviation, Sheikh Mohammed bin Kayed Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of RAK Department of Economic Development, Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Office of the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and heads of local government departments were present on the occasion.
