2011 Report to chart economy's fast-paced growth as major projects take shape
Qatar, April 3rd, 2011: Oxford Business Group (OBG), the global publishing, research and consultancy firm, is preparing for another successful year in Qatar by teaming up once again with the law firm Clyde & Co.
In a fourth year of collaboration, Clyde & Co. will work closely with OBG's research and editorial team to produce the legal section of The Report: Qatar 2011, the Group's forthcoming business guide on the country's economic activity and investment opportunities.
Clyde & Co. is a leading international law firm providing legal services across a range of industries, including insurance and reinsurance, shipping, aviation, trade, energy and commodities. Its lawyers, who are based in 24 offices worldwide, specialise in corporate and commercial law, employment and real estate, construction and infrastructure projects.
OBG's Country Director, Ophelie Janus, said Clyde & Co. had undoubtedly helped the Group step up its detailed analysis of Qatar's impressive economic growth since the two sides first pooled resources in 2008.
"Qatar's economy is in the midst of an exciting transformation, with major construction and transport projects driving increased private sector activity and a number of key international sporting events helping to highlight the country's favourable business environment," she said. "The hands-on approach which Clyde & Co's team adopt in their work gives them an in-depth understanding of the commercial realities of doing business in Qatar and beyond. I am delighted that we will benefit once again from their expertise and experience as we begin the groundwork for The Report: Qatar 2011."
David Salt, Partner at Clyde & Co. added that Qatar's success in clinching the FIFA 2022 World Cup bid would undoubtedly provide the country with a huge boost at a time when its economy was already enjoying significant growth.
"Clearly, this will have a huge impact on many domestic projects and foreign inward investment in Qatar," he said. "The FIFA project will electrify the business environment and return building and infrastructure projects to their frenetic pre-2008 level. This, then, is a particularly exciting time to be writing about business developments in Qatar and I don't think there is a better place to announce them than in Oxford Business Group's Report."
The Report: Qatar 2011 will be a vital guide to the many facets of the country, including its macroeconomics, infrastructure, political landscape, banking and other sectoral developments. The report will include a detailed, sector-by-sector guide for foreign investors. It will also feature a wide range of interviews with the most prominent political, economic and business leaders, including The Emir HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Consort to the Emir HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser, the Minister of Energy and Industry HE Mohammed Saleh Al Sada, the Minister of Economy and Finance HE Youself Hussein Kamal and the Governor of Qatar Central Bank HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani. The report will be available in print form or online.
