Keeping to its responsible banking approach, ahlibank was once again delighted to extend its support to the Oman media Awards 2010 at a glittering ceremony held at the Intercontinental Hotel on 31 January' 2011 under the auspices of His Excellency Eng. Sultan bin Hamdoon Al Harthy, President of Muscat Municipality.
Set up in 2008, the Oman Media Awards seeks to encourage new talents in journalism and to improve local communities through better press coverage and awareness. ahlibank has been sponsoring this event for three consecutive years demonstrating its concern for their welfare and development of the local media.
Mr. Abdul Aziz Al Balushi, CEO of ahlibank presented the award to the Best Arabic Reporter of the Year to Hamood Ali Al Toki of the Al Waha magazine and Best PR Agency award to Zeenah.
While congratulating the winners, Mr. Abdulaziz al Balushi, CEO of ahlibank said, "Media is one of the most effective tools of communication in today's world; it integrates people all over the globe and conveys information to the masses with responsibility along with making a strong social impact. Oman has witnessed a strong growth in this sector especially in the recent years and we need to keep it moving forward which would encourage fresh Omani talents to pursue their career in this field. ahlibank commend the efforts of Omani journalists and media persons who have played an appreciative role in supporting the overall development witnessed by our country for many years."
ahlibank, since inception has given paramount importance to several CSR initiatives and have proved their presence on different occasions by being actively involved in programs like the MyHassad charity drive which donates to different NGOs in Oman, the bank's employees participated in the NACA (National Association of Cancer Awareness) walkathon, supported the crystal ball event for two years in a row and have similar other causes to their endeavors.
