Pact highlights Metito's commitment to universal environmental and social principles
Dubai - Metito, the international water treatment, desalination and wastewater treatment expert, has announced its decision to join the world-renowned Global Compact, a voluntary United Nations initiative serving the cause of universal environmental and social principles.
Metito joins a number of highly internationally recognized companies worldwide together with UN agencies, labour and civil society groups to promote responsible corporate citizenship so that business can be a part of the solution to the challenges of globalization.
A growing number of businesses are fast realizing that by being actively engaged in environmental issues, the overall business result of doing so strengthens their operations. To achieve these objectives, the Global Compact offers facilitation and engagement through several mechanisms: Policy Dialogues, Learning, Country/Regional Networks, and Projects. Global Compact relies on public accountability, transparency and the enlightened self-interest of companies, labour and civil society to initiate and share substantive action in pursuing the principles upon which the Global Compact is based.
Fady Juez, Managing Director of Metito, said: "The Global Compact is a family of international organisations of the highest standards that promotes awareness on environmental protection as well as social principles. We at Metito want to demonstrate our leadership by advancing responsible corporate citizenship. We also want to produce practical solutions to contemporary problems related to globalization, sustainable development and corporate responsibility while maintaining the highest standards and most updated technology available in our industry."
He added: "The Global Compact is a purely voluntary initiative designed to promote innovation in relation to good corporate citizenship. Many of our existing standards at Metito support the principles of the Global Compact and are therefore quite consistent with its overall objectives."
It must be noted that Metito is the only the second company in the Middle East and at the same time the first water treatment company in the region to join this elite club of organizations. About Metito:
