MEFMA to host four regional events on World FM Day to 'Celebrate Success' in facilities management across the Middle East.

Dubai: The Middle East Facility Management Association (MEFMA) that was first inaugurated under the auspices of Dubai's Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA), is proud to announce its support for the 4th Annual World FM Day, to take place on 28 June 2012.

World FM Day is a Global Facility Management Association (Global FM) initiative to celebrate the importance of the Facilities Management (FM) profession. It aims at raising the FM profession profile around the globe, promoting facilities management's ideals, not only within the profession and industry, but also among the governments and the general business community.

The theme of World FM Day 2012, is 'Celebrating Success' whereby companies and organisations will be sharing their latest achievements and successes as FM professionals, as a team, company or country.

MEFMA continues to showcase its dedication towards its members by raising awareness of FM in the region and deciding to host four simultaneous events across the Middle East.  These will be held in Dubai- UAE, Doha - Qatar, Kuwait City - Kuwait and Riyadh - Saudi Arabia. In Dubai, MEFMA will be supported by Kharafi National as a Platinum sponsor, Imdaad as badge sponsor and MAF Dalkia as sustainability sponsor. In Qatar, Waseef Facility and Asset Management will sponsor the event. Kuwait and Saudi Arabia will be supported by MEFMA members and local government officials in the region.

Speaking on raising awareness within FM, Mr Saleh Abdallah Al- Sharafi, Operations Director of Waseef Facility and Asset Management and keynote speaker at the Qatar event said, "Since the market in the Middle East is in the development stage when compared to other regions, the objective of World FM Day and our involvement is to raise the awareness of facilities management in the field of real estate and development by discussing FM challenges and developments. Also, highlighting how Waseef Facility and Asset Management and our peers, can improve operational efficiencies in buildings that are used for residential, commercial and public purposes across the Middle East".

The events will also provide MEFMA and its members an opportunity to discuss and debate industry trends including a talk from Alain Saliba, Business Development Manager of Kharafi National, at the event in Dubai on the significance and growth of FM in the Middle East.

Speaking about the importance of FM in the region, H.E. Marwan Bin Ghulaita, CEO of RERA said, "Facilities management is not just integral to the wider construction and real estate industry, it is a valuable service offered to end-users and the public who will actively examine the management and upkeep of properties before buying or renting. So understanding its impact on the built environment and the economy is critical and highlighting its importance will help ensure wider FM adoption and best practice."
