Following the successful launch of the self-meter reading (SMR) campaign by Muscat Electricity and Distribution Company (MEDC), the Electricity Holding Company (EHC) has invited two major D&S subsidiaries to join in MEDC's 'You know it better campaign'.

The two subsidiaries are Majan Electricity Company and Mazoon Electricity Company. The former's electricity supply jurisdiction are North Al Batinah and Al Dahara, while the latter's authorized supply area are the regions of South Batinah, Al Dakhliyah and Al Sharqiyah.

Says, Mansoor Al Hinai, Chief Operations Officer - Supply at MEDC, "We welcome Majan Electricity and Mazoon Electricity into the new system of Self-meter Reading for customers. In joining our campaign, the two companies will assist and aid billing accuracy along with more efficient customer service. It also proves that the SMR method we have launched is gaining precedence with customers over traditional meter reading and billing methods."

MEDC's 'You know it better campaign' launched at the start of the year, encourages customers to individually send in their own meter readings to the company for billing. MEDC has set up a number of channels to accomplish this such as a smart phone application called Oman Electricity, an E-portal - www.electricity.com.om, via email: smr@medcoman.com, through SMSs to 97777705, by contacting the company's call center on 80070008 and through filling out some official paperwork.

Since its introduction, the campaign has won over many converts to the new system of electricity meter reading and billing, receiving a tremendous response from customers. MEDC officials are impressed with the outcome of the campaign and express further optimism of an even bigger change over to the new method of SMR.

The company is also rewarding those customers who choose the SMR option of billing. MEDC has planned a round of draws with exciting prizes in store. Customers who send in their readings for the period between the 15th and 25th of each month will be eligible for the draw. Prizes include 10 smart phones that also feature the new iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3.
