Internal conference for physicians and senior management to share ideas and discuss the role and future of Mafraq Hospital within Abu Dhabi's healthcare industry Mafraq Hospital held its inaugural medical conference at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi this weekend. The conference brought together more than 350 Mafraq Hospital physicians and senior management, and provided a forum for exchanging thoughts on the hospital's role as a key player in Abu Dhabi's growing healthcare sector. During the conference, awards for clinical excellence, research, education, quality of service, business development, community support and leadership were distributed to physicians who have shown outstanding progress in each of these areas.
"Events such as this one are extremely important for us. It is our duty as a healthcare provider to recognize and congratulate the talent we have. Our physicians are skilled, highly qualified, and amongst the best in their respective fields. Excellence and devotion are our core prerequisites for our move to the new hospital in 2013," said Mr. John Nickens, CEO, Mafraq Hospital.
Mr. Carl Stanifer, CEO, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) opened the conference with an overview of the Abu Dhabi health industry and the purpose of 'SEHA' as the sole owner and operator of all the public health facilities in the emirate, as well as giving an update on the progress of the new Mafraq Hospital buildings.

Dr. Mohsen El Mekresh, Consultant and Chair of Department of Surgery received the Excellent Clinician Administrator Award
Dr. Taiseer Atrak, Consultant and Chair of Pediatrics, received the Excellent Transformational Event Award for Children safety
Dr. Nouman Habbab, Consultant and Chair of Clinical Imaging, received the Leadership Management Award
Dr. Barbara Karwinski, Consultant and Chair of Laboratory Medicine, received the Excellent Quality Management Award
Dr. Mohsen Mekresh, received the Business Development Award
