Eng. Hussain Nassir Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality on Monday has visited the new fish market project in Al Hamriya, one of the prestigious future projects of the civic body that aim to provide high-tech markets to serve the Dubai community.
Lootah said that the civic body plans to implement it as a distinguished project complying with 100% of green building requirements and specifications, providing the entire elements of attraction for tourists, shoppers and visitors creating a user friendly environment and outstanding facilities with global specifications. The market will be divided into different parts including places for storing and freezing.
The market in 120,000 m2 encompasses 506 units that include the area for fish display and auction, 148 shops for vegetable and fruits, 63 shops for spices, 47 shops in Bazar zone, 72 shops for meat, 68 freezing stores, 32 coffee shops and restaurants, 52 commercial outlets and supermarkets in 5,500 m2, in addition to 278 parking slots for trucks and services, 769 parking slots for visitors.
'The upcoming fish market to be completed by the end of 2014 will be the most successful market in terms of the shopping convenience for all, as well as its role to boost the economy, especially in food stuff trade,' Lootah said.
