Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 13 May 2013. Several green initiatives, complemented with various socially responsible projects, have resulted in JA Jebel Ali Golf Resort receiving official Green Globe-certified resort status. Green Globe is known worldwide to be the travel industry's leading certification programme for sustainable tourism.

The certification process is based on a total of 337 compliance indicators that cover 41 criteria for sustainability. A biannual audit assists certified hotels and resorts to keep track of their progress and future plans to become increasingly environment and community friendly.

"I am absolutely delighted and extremely proud of the entire resort team that spent a year of hard work to achieve this certification," said Fredrik Reinisch, General Manager of JA Jebel Ali Golf Resort. "It is a major achievement and ushers in a new beginning for us on our journey towards sustainability."

The resort, which has implemented a number of socially and environmentally responsible activities over the last decade, now formally claims an international certification as a testament to these initiatives. In 2012, the resort also received a Dubai Green Tourism Award from the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.

Initiatives to save energy, increase recycling and manage resources are already in place and the resort also gets involved in charitable projects that benefit African orphans and a variety of marine life forms such as hawksbill turtles. A bio-garden supplies many of the resort kitchen's herb and vegetable requirements, while products regarded as endangered or threatened are excluded from the resort menus.

The award-winning JA Jebel Ali Golf Resort is a well-renowned 128-acre beach resort offering a range of luxury accommodation. The Residence at JA Palm Tree Court features a limited collection of premium luxury beachfront suites with exclusive benefits, while JA Palm Tree Court itself is an all-inclusive family beach resort with an ambience of casual luxury. The resort's original seven-floor JA Jebel Ali Beach Hotel is also situated along the resort's palm-lined private beach with golf course and marina views.

The resort's many facilities include a golf course, spa, horse riding stables, shooting club, marina with fishing and seaplane flights, water sports and diving centre, tennis and squash courts, four swimming pools, two sea rafts, three children's clubs and 15 outlets. It was also voted 'World's Leading Family Resort', both by the prestigious World Travel Awards and by United Kingdom and Irish travel agents in the Travel Agent Choice Awards.
