DUBAI -- 10 March 2013 -- The Computer and Information Science (CIS) department at the Higher Colleges of Technology - Dubai, Women's Campus, hosted recently the SAP HANA Awareness Roadshow. Around 120 male and female students and faculty from 8 colleges Abu Dhabi Men's College, Fujeirah Women's College, Dubai Men's College, Ruwais Men's College, Ruwais Women's College, Sharjah Men's College and Sharjah Women's College attended the roadshow and interacted with delegates from SAP.

The roadshow consisted of 2 sessions; the first session was conducted by Dr. Jeffry Word (Vice President of SAP product strategy) and was about the SAP HANA Technology. During this session, Dr. Word discussed the role of SAP solutions in the execution of global business activities and the opportunities for new graduates to embark on rewarding careers in the new world of "real-time" business.  He also discussed the disruptive innovation of the HANA in-memory databases and present a review of the architectural implications of running massive enterprise applications and data warehouses completely in-memory. The second session was conducted by Mr. Stephen Brady - HR Specialist from SAP. Mr. Brady talked about the skills that SAP and its partners and customers are looking for and about opportunities in the job market for HCT students and graduates.

Dr. Nasser Nassiri, Chair of the CIS department at HCT-Dubai, Women's Campus, said, "The roadshow was a great opportunity for our students and faculty to know the HANA technology and interact with technology experts and HR specialists from the IT and Business industry." He further added that SAP is investing Dh1.65 billion by 2015 to train and develop local talent in the Middle East. This means that there will be plenty of jobs and this is an excellent opportunity for our students to be ready for these vacancies.

Dr. Vish Akre, CIS faculty at HCT-Dubai, Women's Campus, said "SAP HANA Awareness Roadshow event has created a positive awareness among HCT students about market leadership of SAP, its huge presence in MENA corporate and public sectors and the considerable and lucrative job opportunities for SAP professionals in this region".
