Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH), one of the world's leading centres for treating sick children, will be launching a dedicated Arabic website for patient and families, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at Arab Health in Dubai on the 28th January 2013. The website, www.gosh.ae , is geared towards informing parents of sick children, as well as regional healthcare providers and professionals, of the services and facilities offered by the hospital to all nationalities across UAE and the Arab world.
The website will allow the growing number of GOSH's Arabic speaking visitors and regional partners from the UAE to find information in their preferred language on the medical conditions that can affect children, and discover more about the pioneering treatments available at GOSH. With a UAE domain name - www.gosh.ae - the website provides a unique interface, with points of interest for patients and their parents and the latest information on activities and success stories, plus services offered and details of current projects.
"GOSH is already well established in Dubai through our office, which opened in 2005 and has since had over 300 patient contacts each year," comments Trevor Clarke, Director of International and Private Patient Services, GOSH. "This has given us an invaluable experience and customer insight into the healthcare market not only within Dubai and the UAE, but also the Gulf region as a whole. We see Arab Health as the perfect platform to launch www.gosh.ae . This website is not just another language version of the GOSH website; it is locally adapted and created with the specific needs and concerns of our UAE visitors in mind. We are currently increasing our Middle East content and are keen to provide this region with a dedicated site. The health sector in the Middle East is evolving at a rapid pace and GOSH is dedicated to delivering the full range of services and information that this region requires."
"The website complements the work we are already doing in the UAE and the wider Gulf region. We have an extended hospital visiting programme in the UAE which includes clinical nurse specialists and dieticians when requested. Consultants who have visited cover a wide spectrum of specialities. Children and their families benefit from the established Gulf office by having better access to support before and after treatment at GOSH. This support ensures a better experience for children and families during treatment at GOSH, and better outcomes by providing appropriate support when the child returns home."
"The establishment of a consultant‐visiting programme has meant that specialists from GOSH come to the region on a regular basis to see children in the comfort of their own environment, rather than have the family travel to the UK. Consultants' insight to the services provided locally is invaluable when planning children's discharge back to their region from the UK, and the teams work together to improve the overall quality of care."
Great Ormond Street Hospital will be exhibiting as part of the British Pavilion in Hall 7, stand 7D36.
