Leading manufacturer showcases world class high voltage technology

Dubai - March 14th 2012: Ducab, one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality power cables and wires in the Middle East, will be showcasing the latest technologies in cable manufacturing and high voltage technology at this year's Water and Energy Technology & Environment Exhibition (WETEX), being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 13 to 15 March 2012.

Key additions to Ducab's WETEX presence this year will come from Ducab-HV, a joint venture between DEWA, ADWEA and Ducab, that was inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. Ducab-HV brings global best practices in the manufacture of high voltage cables and products to the UAE, and covers the highest voltages in use within the GCC. Ducab will also be highlighting its new range of 'FLAMBICC' fire resistant cables ideal for residential and industrial use where safety is a primary concern.

"We are proud to be one of the main sponsors for WETEX 2012 as this underlines our long standing association with DEWA. The exhibition is an excellent platform to network with purchasers and decision-makers in the industry as we highlight new additions to our product range, including Ducab-HV," said Ahmed Al Shaikh, Chairman of Ducab. "When fully operational, the Ducab-HV factory will also generate 130 new jobs, which means more opportunities to hire and develop UAE Nationals".

As a leading cable manufacturer in the region, Ducab is also hosting a seminar today (14 March 2012), titled 'Challenges for HV Cables System in the GCC'. Delivered by Chief Engineer Jorgen Svahn, the seminar will take place at the exhibition and is part of Ducab's efforts to promote sustainable infrastructural development that can withstand increasing demand while prioritizing health and safety.

"The environmental conditions in the GCC are particularly difficult for high voltage cable system installations. Ambient temperatures, soil conditions and other logistical challenges make it difficult to design and operate a reliable high voltage cable system. This seminar will address some of the key issues and precautions suppliers and users can take in order to design a reliable system," Al Shaikh added.

Ducab has recently announced record sales of AED 4.9bn for 2011, representing a 39% increase over the previous year. The company is forecasting 10 per cent growth in sales and revenue for 2012.
