United Arab Emirates, Dubai, May 9, 2013: The primary healthcare sector of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) recently held a workshop on wound care and management.
The workshop was held for DHA primary healthcare professionals and the aim of the workshop was to educate them on latest equipments and techniques in wound care.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Amna Khamis Rashed Al Mazrooei, Director of Health Centres, Primary Healthcare Sector.
Wound care specialists from Dubai Hospital conducted the workshop for over 80 primary healthcare professionals- 50 nurses and 30 doctors.
The workshop covered many areas of wound care. "We demonstrated wound care and management techniques for patients with diabetic ulcers, patients who are bedridden and suffer from bed sores and for patients who have undergone any form of injury", said Dr. Ashraf Swida, specialist senior family physician and head of clinical development unit at the DHA primary healthcare sector.
He said the workshop provided information on the latest materials available for dressing of wounds. He also highlighted that the workshop covered fundamental aspects of wound care including wound assessment, product selection, compression bandaging etc.
The workshop is the first in the series of workshops which the sector aims to undertake over the course of this year.
