Dubai Municipality in cooperation with Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and under the patronage of HE Mohammed Al Murr, Chairman of the Federal National Council, launched the "No Companion like a Good Book" initiative.
Mohammed Al Murr and Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah jointly launched the initiative on Thursday in Municipality conference hall in the presence of Adel Al Shared, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sultan Ali Lootah, CEO at the Foundation, number of Assistant Directors General, officials and employees in the municipality.
Abdullah Abdul Rahman, Head of Knowledge Management Department said we exhibited more than 100 free books provided by the Foundation in diverse areas and tastes aiming to help the book lovers to read widely and leave them after reading for others. Municipality had already launched an initiative during the last period, titled "Read the book and then leave it to others".
His Excellency praised the initiative of Dubai Municipality, which encourages employees to read, referring to the importance of reading for every citizen. He also urged other government department to practice such initiatives to develop the knowledge and capacity of the staff.
Lootah said Municipality is keen to conduct such initiatives aimed at promoting education, provision of scientific books and dissemination of knowledge and culture among employees.
Adel Rashid Al Shared expressed his happiness in launching this noble initiative, which is the fruit of the cooperation between the Foundation and Dubai Municipality, as part of an initiative named 'Gather Knowledge' launched by the Foundation recently.
