Dubai, UAE, 24 May 2013

A delegation from Ajman University of Science and Technology visited Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's (DEWA) Sustainable Building in Al Quoz, the first sustainable building in the UAE, to view DEWA's achievements in e-Services.

DEWA officials conducted the tour for the delegation and delivered a presentation on DEWA's achievements and experiences in developing and promoting e-Services.

DEWA is implementing a strategic plan to support the vision of Dubai Government for e-Adoption, which aims to promote e-Services, encourage customers to use e-Gate, reduce the number of customers at customer service centres, and protect the environment by dispensing paperwork.

DEWA consistently improves its service, and encourages its employees to achieve excellence across various operations and services.

DEWA adopts a strategy to improve students' capabilities and enable them to contribute to overall development, in line with Dubai's vision based on a knowledge economy. DEWA has developed training programmes for students to strengthen their skills and provide them with the experience required to streamline their academic future.

The presentation highlighted DEWA's successful advertising campaigns, which aim to educate customers and encourage them to switch to e-Services.

Recently, DEWA launched a marketing campaign for the 'Auto-Payment' service, which is a part of the mobile payment service 'mPay' provided by Dubai e-Government. Following the launch of Auto-Payment service, 53.39% of the total consumers used mPay while 50.44% subscribed to the service.

DEWA is one of the leading government organisations in promoting e-Services and protecting the environment. DEWA processed 2.7 million e-service transactions in 2012, saving 7,765 tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to planting 46,631 trees in an area corresponding to 88 football fields.

The delegation thanked DEWA for sharing its expertise and achievements in promoting e-Services. DEWA provides regular payment channels through its offices as well as through petrol stations such as ENOC and EPPCO, Emirates Post Offices, Etisalat payment machines, mPay through mpay.dubai.ae website, and via smartphone applications, such as iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Blackberry Playbook, Android, Windows 7, Windows 8 mobile, Window 8, as well as DEWA's e-Portal www.dewa.gov.ae.
