RIYADH - Gearing for significant growth in 2008, Carrier Saudi, a leading supplier of air-conditioning systems, will significantly expand its product portfolio to serve the Kingdom's vibrant cooling market. Carrier Corp. is a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).
At the Annual Dealers and Retailers Meeting, Carrier Saudi General Manager Baqir Ali Johar detailed the new and innovative technologies that the company will introduce this year.
Baqir Ali Johar said, "Demand for cooling in Saudi Arabia is set to rise again in 2008, backed by higher government spending on the infrastructure, oil, social and health sectors. Significant private sector investments and the emergence of economic cities will further activate demand for cooling. This spells enormous growth for the cooling sector in the Kingdom. Carrier Saudi is well positioned to meet the needs of this dynamic market with cutting-edge products that are environmentally sound and energy efficient."
Carrier Saudi's new 2008 range will introduce indoor units with superior comfort and aesthetics. Starting in July, Carrier will add commercial splits, offering 6 ton-20 ton cooling distribution units (CDUs) from SAMCO. The company will also continue to focus on the residential segment with products such as the Xpression and Harmony mini-split series. In the commercial segment, Carrier Saudi will add competitive products from SAMCO, while also capitalizing on the 30XA Aquaforce™ chiller range.
"Carrier Saudi's leading position in the Kingdom's air-conditioning sector is driven by its product ingenuity, extensive service and thorough understanding of customer needs," said Johar. "The expanded product range will intensify Carrier's presence in Saudi Arabia, which is home to one of the most active construction markets in the world."
The Annual Dealers and Retailers meeting was attended by 400 members of Carrier Saudi's distribution network from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam. Dealers were given a preview of Carrier Saudi's soon-to-be-launched products and an in-depth presentation on the prospects of the cooling sector. Carrier Saudi distributed 150 awards to the best performing dealers and retailers in Saudi Arabia.
Commenting on Carrier Saudi's performance, Johar said that 2007 was an extremely good year for Carrier Saudi. The commercial applied systems business grew exceptionally, while the new Aquaforce™ chiller with micro-channel coil technology provided the platform for future growth.
"The commercial air-conditioning and refrigeration segment continues to grow as we see an increase in the number of shopping mall, hypermarket and commercial building development projects. Many projects are currently in the design and execution stage, which demonstrates the huge expected demand for cooling and valuable opportunities for Carrier Saudi."
