MUSCAT In cooperation with the Ministry of Health, students and staff members of the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) donated blood during the third Blood Donation Drive at the university's premises last Wednesday.
Blood donations are a very important issue for the whole society. "Healthy people can donate blood quite regularly. One donation equals about 450 ml. The body keeps on replenishing blood all the time, whether you donate or not," said one of the doctors of the Ministry of Health. The doctors said, that especially the following blood groups are needed: 0-, A- and B-.
The average adult has about five to six liters of blood. Everybody who is healthy and between the age of 18 and 65 years can donate blood. Especially in summer, when many people are travelling abroad, the Blood Bank of the Ministry of Health urgently needs blood donations.
