Developing Leadership Skills and Potential for the Bank's Employees
Cairo - As part of its 2013 strategy Barclays Bank Egypt launched the Africa Graduate Development Program, which aims to create opportunities for leadership skills to develop and to give young bank employees the opportunity to shine and reach their full potential through an intensive training program in South Africa.
Barclays Bank Egypt set aside one million EGP for the Africa Graduate Development Program during 2013, which involves having ten candidates from various departments travel to different countries in Africa every two months to attend the development program's training.
Edward Marks, Managing Director of Barclays Bank Egypt, said "the Africa Graduate Development Program is part of Barclays international's strategy that aims to expand the talents of young executives, develop their skills and help them fulfill their career ambitions."
The program is part of Barclays Bank Egypt's broader Human Resources strategy, which sets aside 17% - 20% of its annual budget to develop the skills and talents of its employees and management. During 2012 alone the bank organised 134 training programs for 1874 bank employees.
Ayman Mahana, Human Resources Director at Barclays Bank Egypt, stated that "the Africa Graduate Development Program is the first program launched by Barclays Bank Egypt to produce graduates with skills and abilities that are on par with international standards."
The Africa Graduate Development Program includes programs in Financial Acumen, Operations 101, Understanding Risk, Business Strategy, Project Management, Leadership Development, EQ Development, Introduction to Banking, Persuasive Presentations, Building Relationships, Managing Your Career and Building Personal Resilience.
