Doha, Qatar 3rd April 2012 - Autodesk, Inc. a world leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software, participates as a keynote speaker at the Middle East Geospatial Forum which takes place today, at the Qatar National Conventional Centre. Middle East Geospatial Forum is an international platform designed for building networks to enable g-lateral ties in the region for geospatial community. The 2 day conference aims at bringing together the geospatial & infrastructure industry leaders, decision makers, development planners from the region to discuss the role of new technologies in ushering in an era of sustainable development.
Middle East Geospatial Forum will revolve around the theme Geospatial Technologies for Sustainable Middle East with the aim of highlighting the significance of geospatial technology in promoting sustainable development for the region. Various sessions held during the conference will witness high-profile speaker's talk about the need for geospatial technology to make informed decisions on how to better integrate the processes of development and sustainability. Geoff Zeiss, Ph.D. Autodesk Director of Utility Industry Program and one of the key speakers will be discussing topics on Construction & Infrastructure. Zeiss will highlight the role of geospatial technology for various infrastructure verticals like roads, railways, aviation, real estate etc in the Middle East.

According to a recent study completed by Research and Markets the construction industry will grow at a rate of 12% per annum until 2015. The growth is driven by the surge of investments created by Qatar's successful bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2022, and substantiated by the Qatar National Vision for 2030 programme - and the total spending fund of $800bn. Furthermore, according to another study done by the Kuwait Financial Centre (Markaz), the GCC countries are on track to spend $137.4 billion between 2011 and 2020 just on new road and railway projects.
At the forum, Autodesk highlighted 'Building Information Modeling (BIM), an intelligent process for creating and managing building and infrastructure projects economically, quickly and with less environmental impact. Zeiss discussed the comprehensive portfolio of BIM software solutions for design, visualization, simulation, and collaboration that use the rich information in the intelligent model to inform better decision-making and break down the barriers to better business.
Autodesk is continuing to invest in Qatar by strengthening local relationships and enhancing its products to best meet the needs of the Qatar architecture, engineering and construction industry.
